Wakeboard Rail Jam

The usual college party town didn't show up for Cinco de Mayo. Instead I headed out to Scotty's Landing north of town to capture a Wakeboard Rail Jam event in the Sacramento River. The event was originally meant to be held in Sycamore Pool at One Mile Recreation Area. They were going to use a tow wench to pull the wakeboarders across a ramp in the pool. It was a shock to hear they had passed clearance from the City Council. Boardmart General Manager Stephen Berry requested the venue a little over a month ago and was given the OK to hold the event, though they weren't able to secure enough funding for that site. The event was moved out to Scotty's. What was suppose to be real big news ended up being a smaller event. But I decided to spend some more time reporting. I shot some video clips using a point and shoot camera. It isn't the best piece of technology. Sure, I would like a $4500 video camera, but I only get what I can. The video work is a bit shakey, but I think the video still gets the message across. It just goes to show you can still report without all the fancy equipment.
