Last week was a pretty full week. I covered everything from breaking news, general news, sports, buzz, style and even wild art. With the festivities of Halloween, I decided to make a single posting of those photos. I did get a variety of images this last week. I hope this coming week can be as exciting. Enjoy my 8FPS...

Halloween in Chico

Halloween hit on a Saturday this year and gave be a long weekend to look forward to. After a much needed rest, I am able to show what went on this weekend. Students at Chico State had a more or less a four day weekend on Halloween because most students don't have classes on Friday's and the University decided to make the following Monday a furlough day. This meant the students had four days of Halloween bliss...if they could make it that long. Friday's night activities were normal, but Saturday night, things heated up. A shooting, fights and other incidents kept Chico Police quite busy. Here is a selection of all the activity.

Vote for fellow photographer Mike Greener new travel book

Everyone take a look at fellow photog friend Mike Greener who is counting on some votes for his new book (which you can also buy) about his tavels. Great stories and photos! I'll have him explain the rest.

How's it going everybody? Bare with me on this. Back in the winter of 2007 my brother Eric and I realized how distant our friendship had grown over the last couple of years. Through college and the demands from our jobs we had lost touch. So we decided to remedy it by quitting our jobs and taking an unplanned backpacking trip from the Patagonia to Panama for six months. Needless to say it was an epic trip full of mishaps and adventure. Upon my return I decided to put the collection of journal entries and edited down the thousands of pictures I took and put them into a new book called "Shopping for Dynamite -A Brotherly Adventure to South America".

I am writing because now I could really use your help. With the recent release of my book have decided to enter it into a travel book contest. The contest is based off a voting system and the top 10 voted on books will then qualify for professional judging. I would really like to be apart of that. It's grand prize is $3000.00. If you could spare a couple minutes -you'll have to register but it's with a cool company that doesn't spam you. I'd really appreciate it if you click on the link provided below and vote for my book. Help me reach my goal of 1000 votes. Once you have voted please forward on this link and encourage your family and friends to vote. The more the merrier! After you are done, I'd be curious to hear what you think of the book. You can view pictures of the printed book on my blog link below. Thanks so much for the support.
Best Regards,
-Mike Greener

8FPS: My Best Photos from 10/18/09-10/24/09

This week had a bunch of great sports games. I shoot primarily sports, and this week had them. As far as the news and features side went there wasn't much happening. Thrill the World was the most exciting as I already wrote a post on that. It was a pretty fun week overall. Here are the shots:

Thrill the World

This past Saturday, a bunch of zombies gathered downtown to thrill the world. And with Halloween approaching they weren't really scaring anyone. Instead a sea of spectators gathered to watch the group of over a hundred people that took part in "Thrill the World" event, a performance celebrating Michael Jackson's "Thriller". The group joined hundreds of other participants around the world that were suppose to dance around the same time together. I was surprised to see so many people involved. It was really great. Everyone likes Michael Jackson. And with his recent passing I believe it gave people more incentive to come out and watch. It was in a way, to pay homage to the great entertainer.
