8FPS: Oroville Graduation Is A Little Deju'

Same event, same place, same time, just the next day. Most graduations have some variety to them. A new location at least. But Oroville schools decided to have their graduations be almost exactly the same, just on two different days. Las Plumas High graduated on a Thursday, Oroville High on Friday. I had to rethink my entire plan. The previous day I had shot over 600 photos to were edited to about 130 for an online gallery. The very next day I had to take a totally new set of images with roughly the same amount for an online gallery. It wasn't easy. My only saving grace was really with the balloon display Oroville High school had. Here are the best shots of the night.

Wishing Willows Grads Well

Willows High school students graduated on what was originally expected to be a rainy night, ended up being quite a comfortable evening. There wasn't much uniqueness to the night, but all were smiles. And so another week of graduations pass and there's just one more week to go.

Durham Grads Say So Long

Durham High School celebrated its seniors in their graduation ceremony Thursday. The night was given special honor to Claire Granzich who was killed in an ATV accident in 2007. She would have been a senior and graduating with her class had her life not been met with tragedy. The students paid tribute to Granzich by holding roses during the processional. It wasn't a somber mood as the event happened when the class were moving into their sophomore year. But the memories were still very vivid for some.

8FPS: Butte's Graduation

Over 1,000 students graduated from Butte College Friday night. Butte has been a huge asset as a community college to the local area. It has even been a launch pad for many of its students. Once thought of as an outlier school for those with lower potential, Butte College has grown and received many impressive reviews. It has become a major decision for students entering into the college arena. It also offers many choices that you can't always get at the state level. The fact that they continue to grow and had over 1,000 students graduating was quite impressive.

8FPS: PV Graduation

Pleasant Valley High's graduation was met with wet and cold weather. Rain poured down and there was even a short glimpse of lightning in the sky. I was all prepared to be soaked in the rain, but luckily the skies cleared right before the ceremony started. It was a blessing. I would have loved to shoot a graduation in a downpour, but was very thankful to be dry. Here's the highlights of the night.

Graduating Champions

Champion Christian School celebrated their graduates of 2010 at Neighborhood Church. I attended Champion in Jr. High before going to high school at Pleasant Valley High School. It is always neat to see this graduating class. They classmates are all best friends because they know each other so well. There is generally no more than 20-25 students each year, which is the equivalent of about one SMALL class at the high schools. Always a neat group of kids.

8FPS: CSUC Graduation

Boy, was Saturday busy. What kept me scrambling the most was covering the first of many graduations. I went to the Saturday graduation ceremonies for California State University - Chico and was racing to find something. You never know what to expect at graduations. This particular one was suppose to be hit with rain in the forecast, but was treated to a wonderfully cool and partly cloudy morning. The event was rather mild in activity. I looked for signs of interest, but wasn't very successful.  I took part in finding the happy graduate portrait shots to illustrate the ceremony. One unique thing did happen in the program. An honorary degree given to David C. Favor. Here are the 8 highlights of the graduation. (more grad photos are sure to come).
