Dull Rain, Great Photo

The rain finally came today and when I was about to start my shift, it let up. The downpour I was looking forward to covering as a photojournalist stopped as soon as I was going to begin. I was left with a cloudy dismal, gray world facing me. I decided to head out and see what I could find. My travels took me to One Mile Recreation Area where no one was out except a few active runners. The wet became cold as I searched for something interesting. Then I decided to get a new view on the world. I pointed my camera up at a tree and let the rain splash on the lens. (I have a UV filter that protects the main lens... and a rain cover for the camera) With the rain splashing the filter it created a watercolor effect over the lens. I took a picture of one of the trees and it made for a much more artistic view of such a dull atmosphere. It was a definitely a happy moment of my day.

Free Coffee Frenzy

Most people love to get coffee. What they love more is getting free coffee. And nothing proved this more that the long wait for free coffee being handed out at Dutch Bros. third location that had its grand opening along the Esplanade. Chico Police had to redirect the backup of cars along W. 8th Ave from everyone wanting their free coffee. What was going to be a simple stand alone photo turned into a chance to shoot video of the overwhelming, but controlled event.

Toys for the Big Boys

Every man is a just a large boy. We never grow up and never loose the love to play with gadgets and toys. I stumbled across three men who were flying RC planes around Chico. And I would be lying if I didn't say I wish I could have flown one myself. Unfortunately for one of the pilots, he crashed his plane while flying and broke the nose off the plane. He was definitely heart broken and the fun had finished. I did manage to get a couple nice shots of the men flying their planes.
